What Is a Heat Sink ?
A heat sink is a passive heat exchanger that transfers the heat generated by an electronic or a mechanical device to a fluid medium, often air or a liquid coolant, where it is dissipated away from the device, thereby allowing regulation of the device’s temperature at optimal levels .
Heat Sink Types
1)Active Heat Sinks
These are generally fan type and utilize power for cooling purpose. They can also be termed as Heat sink or fans.
2)Passive Heat Sinks
These do not possess any mechanical components and are made of aluminum or copper finned radiators.
